Plaid shirts are everywhere these days, but how do you wear them without looking like a lumberjack? I recommend staying away from red flannel and look for a plaid in colors or a smaller box plaid. It is important to channel the grunge time period of the 90's, but to not actually look grungy. Here are a few plaid shirts that give off the "I'm trendy and retro" vibe.
1. I love this purple plaid shirt from Delia's. The large box plaid makes it feel very traditional, but it comes in really cool colors like purple (seen here), blue, teal and yellow. Pair it with a pair of black skinny jeans and your ready to rock. Available at Delia's store and Delias.com for $39.50
2. Top Shop sells this oversize citrus check shirt for $55. I love the smaller vertical lines and the subtleness of the black box print. Find it online at TopShop.com or if you are in New York City, check out their first US store!
3. Finally I love this traditional plaid boyfriend fit shirt by Steven Alan. This shirt is an example of how to wear red plaid correctly. Pair it with a pair of Jeans and you're out the door. Available on Net-A-Porter.com for $160.
