Be a Beach Babe

No one likes the beginning of bathing suit season. We are pale from the winter months, and some of us still haven't worked off that "holiday" weight. If you are agreeing with these statements, rest assured. The swim suit cover up is a chic way to say "hello summer, here is my body" without really putting it all out there.

1. Victoria's Secret incorporates this seasons hottest trend, ruffles, into their strapless ruffle cover up. Choose from four colors including white, fuchsia, camel, and black. Available at Victoriassecret.com for $32.

2. For a little more coverage, I love this green tunic cover up from Vix swimwear. Green is such a hot color this season, so why not wear it at the beach or by the pool? Find this cover up on vixswimwear.com for $59 (originally $115!).

3. Trying to figure out how to wear bright colors this season? Check out this bright pink cover up by Juicy Couture. The cinched in waist will give shape to your body so you can avoid looking like you're wearing a sack. Get this short dress on everythingbutwater.com for $124.

GlamourGals

GlamourGals is an organization that pairs teen girls with elderly people in senior homes to build self confidence and leadership skills within the teens. Teen girls, ages 14-18, visit assisted living centers every month and bond with their elders by giving them makeovers and facials. GlamourGals is asking 1000 people to take the Hot Pink Pledge in 2009, which will hopefully raise at least $5,000 for the GlamourGals Hot Pink leadership program. Take the Hot Pink Pledge and wear hot pink on May 15, 2009 to show your support and look hot in hot pink! I did!

1. For a subtle, but springy look, try this lightweight wrap scarf in Socialite. Available at Nordstrom stores or Nordstrom.com for $11.90 (originally $19.50!)

2. I love this Ella Moss braided tank in flush. Pair it with jeans for a casual look or white jeans for an ultra summery look. Find this Jordan tank at shopepic.com for $97.

3. These rocker chic sandals by Steve Madden in Fuchsia Patent add edge to any outfit. Get yours for May 15 at Steve Madden stores or on stevemadden.com for $79.95.
4. My favorite hot pink fashion has to be this Henley Tunic from Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent. I love the silhouette of this dress and the small white fish print. This dress is exclusively available at PinkMascara.com for $275.

So take the Hot Pink Pledge and don't forget to wear pink on May 15!

Saving the planet with fashion

In honor of Earth Day tomorrow, Wednesday April 22, I am putting together some Eco friendly fashions. It's OK if you don't drive a Prius (or if you do!) by owning some of these pieces you will help save our planet, and you can look good while you do it!

1. This Go Green Tote is available exclusively at Forever 21 for $1.75! But the price isn't even the best part. When you purchase this tote, they will plant a tree on your behalf. Get a trendy green tote and save the environment? Sounds good to me. Available at Forever21.com.
2. Share your views by wearing this "Save the Planet" tee by Zooey. This 100% organic tee donates $2 from every sale to the Healthy Child Healthy World organization. Get yours at Shopbop.com for $41 (originally $82).

3. C & C California tanks are a staple in my closet. They are great for layering or on their own with a pair of jeans and a cute necklace for a casual look. Try their 100% organic version of the tank from Bluefly.com for $31 (originally $52).

Happy Earth Day!

Pretty in Plaid

Plaid shirts are everywhere these days, but how do you wear them without looking like a lumberjack? I recommend staying away from red flannel and look for a plaid in colors or a smaller box plaid. It is important to channel the grunge time period of the 90's, but to not actually look grungy. Here are a few plaid shirts that give off the "I'm trendy and retro" vibe.

1. I love this purple plaid shirt from Delia's. The large box plaid makes it feel very traditional, but it comes in really cool colors like purple (seen here), blue, teal and yellow. Pair it with a pair of black skinny jeans and your ready to rock. Available at Delia's store and Delias.com for $39.50

2. Top Shop sells this oversize citrus check shirt for $55. I love the smaller vertical lines and the subtleness of the black box print. Find it online at TopShop.com or if you are in New York City, check out their first US store!

3. Finally I love this traditional plaid boyfriend fit shirt by Steven Alan. This shirt is an example of how to wear red plaid correctly. Pair it with a pair of Jeans and you're out the door. Available on Net-A-Porter.com for $160.

A personal shoe stylist just for you!

Celebrity stylist Kim Kardashian has started a new website called ShoeDazzle.com and it is a fantastic concept. For anyone out there who can't seem to pick a pair of shoes from the thousands available, or simply doesn't have the time, ShoeDazzle is the perfect site for you.

So how does it work? Several stylist, including Kim Kardashian herself, pick out five of the best pairs for you every month, based on an online survey that you take when you sign up. I'm craving some jean shorts

Finding a new pair of jeans that fit you just right can be difficult, but finding a pair of jean shorts that fit and flatter can be an even harder task. It is important to find the right style for your body, but with all the options out there how do you choose? There are long shorts and short shorts, frayed bohemian jean shorts, and dark tailored shorts. Here are a few of my favorite styles to help you choose the right one for you!

1. Gap makes this classic pair of cut off dark denim short shorts. For a more flattering look try a dark denim (with no fading!) in a short short. I love to pair short shorts with a flowing, billowy top to counter the smaller bottoms. Try something in a floral or a cool graphic print. Find these shorts at Gap stores or online at Gap.com for $44.50.

2. These "Woodstock" faded jeans remind me of just that, the 70's. When wearing lighter denim try a longer style like this pair by Paige Denim. The frayed hem ads to the hippie chick feel. Pair these with a comfy t-shirt or a feminine plaid shirt for a dazed and confused look. Available on shopbop.com for $140.

3. For a more tailored look try these True Religion Brand "Jess" jeans in body rinse blue. I love the fold up cuff on these shorts, which gives them a sophisticated look. These shorts also come in two lighter washes, all available on
Nordstrom.com for $172.

I've got a cocktail ring, now where's the cocktail party?

Have an outfit that could use some fun accessories to make it pop? The cocktail ring is one of my FAVORITE accessories. They spruce up any outfit and lets face it, they are fun to look at. Here are some of my must have rings.

1. This intertwined snake ring comes in gold or silver and is only $6! That's right you heard me, $6! So you really have no excuse NOT to own it. Available at Lulus.com.

2. The ring to the right is from Banana Republic and I love love love their jewelry. It is called the Sparkle ring and it reminds me of fireworks, so naturally it's a great ring for the 4th of July. Find it in their stores or online at Bananarepublic.com for $49.

3. Florals are huge this year, but it can be really hard to find the right pieces. This flower dome ring by Kenneth Jay Lane is the perfect lady-like addition to make you feel like you should be having tea in the gardens. It is available at Intermixonline.com for $175

4. This arrow ring has an edge, it goes over two fingers! The little crystal detailing decorates this ring and makes it all the more special. Find it on Shopbop.com for $215.

Sizzling Summer Sandals

Summer is just around the corner, which means it's time for a pedicure and some hot new sandals. If you jumped on the gladiator craze last year, go grab them out of the back of your closet and keep on wearing them. But if you are looking for something new, there are plenty of jazzed up styles just ready to be worn by you!

1. One of my favorite new sandals is the Jewel Sandal in Multi from Bakers Shoes. With its around the ankle beading and animal print material there is A LOT going on, but there is something very modern day hippie about them and I just love 'em! In fact, I just picked a pair up for myself. I recommend wearing them with a simple outfit since they do enough screaming all on their own, and keep the accessories light too. These gems are $59.95 and can be found at Bakers shoe stores or bakersshoes.com. They are also available in black.

2. If you are looking for something a little more understated, but still incredibly chic, try these sandals by Mystique. With the silver studs along the front they are edgy and fun, but their design keeps them simple and easy to wear with almost anything. You can find this pair on Piperlime.com for $120.

3. For a fresh take on the gladiator sandal that was ever so popular last year, take a look at these Tory Burch Briza sandals. I am loving the hardware on these shoes, which comes in silver or gold depending on the color of the sandal. This pair seen on the right is available on Nordstrom.com, but they also come in platinum and brown on Toryburch.com, all for $265.

The Maxi Dress

One of my new favorite pieces for summer is the Maxi dress. These dresses came back into style last summer, but I just recently purchased my first one and man are they awesome. They are so comfortable and easy to just throw on and look nice for a day of shopping, running errands, or even a night out. You can dress them up with some cool long necklaces and a clutch bag or wear them alone for a more casual look. No matter what your shape or size, the maxi
dress is comfortable and flattering. Below are some of my favorite maxi's at every price.

1.Nordstrom carries an inexpensive version of the maxi dress in their B.P. department and it comes in several colors for only $58! (Picture on left)

2. Gypsy 05 makes a maxi dress that is 100% organic cotton and has been seen on celebrities like Lauren Conrad and Christina Aguilera. This dress comes in over 10 colors and is available online at gypsy05.com for $100 (Picture on right)

3. Finally one of my favorite designers, Alice + Olivia, makes this silk zigzag tie dye maxi dress available on shopbop.com for $484.
