Valentines Day

I have never been a huge fan of Valentines Day, but after being in a relationship for several years I realize that it is nice to have a day that forces you to actually take the time to show that special someone how much you love them. If you make the day about doing nice things for each other and letting people know just how much they mean to you, it no longer feels like a hallmark holiday, but a nice and needed break from the daily grind. The usual red roses and chocolates are a good way to show you care, but why not change it up this year and actually put some thought into those gifts? Here are some of my favorite options.

Valentines for her

1. Kate's Paperie Valentine Card $7.95
2. Louis Vuitton Commit Bracelet $315
3. Max and Chloe Avanessi Rose Gold Love Ring $298
4. Philosophy sweet on you candy hearts shower gel $16
5. OPI Nail Polish $8
6. Makeup is always a fun gift
7. Versace Bright Crystal Eau de Toilette, $88
8. Mixed Pink Peony Bouquet
valentines for Him

1. Barneys Striped Tie $130
2. Hugo Boss Men's Black Dial Leather Strap Watch $175
3. Ralph Lauren Big Pony #2 - Red Eau de Toilette $65
4. The North Face Apex Bionic Jacket $129
5. American Eagle Men's Flannel PJ Pants (Red) $15
6. Black Best Badger Shave Brush in Ebony $83
7. Nike Air Max+ 2009 iD (Wide) Men's Running Shoe $185

Golden Globe Goddess

Award season kicked off with the Golden Globes, and the fashion was fierce. Surprisingly there were only a few fashion victims and A LOT of beautiful gowns that walked down the red carpet. Pink was announced as the color of 2011 and there was definitely a lot of it. Other big colors of the night were emerald green and black, but my favorite look was a glittery ball gown by Marchesa that Olivia Wilde floated down the carpet in. My second favorite dress was a controversial look last night worn by Emma Stone, but I thought she looked A-mazing with her new blonde hair and peach gown by Calvin Klein. And to round out my top three, Mila Kunis rocked this emerald green dress by Vera Wang. I am now obsessed with this color and definitely on the lookout for a cocktail dress in this deep green. The Globes started awards fashion off right and I can't wait to see what the stars wear to the Oscars and the Grammys!

GlamourGals

GlamourGals is an organization that pairs teen girls with elderly people in senior homes to build self confidence and leadership skills within the teens. Teen girls, ages 14-18, visit assisted living centers every month and bond with their elders by giving them makeovers and facials. GlamourGals is asking 1000 people to take the Hot Pink Pledge in 2009, which will hopefully raise at least $5,000 for the GlamourGals Hot Pink leadership program. Take the Hot Pink Pledge and wear hot pink on May 15, 2009 to show your support and look hot in hot pink! I did!

1. For a subtle, but springy look, try this lightweight wrap scarf in Socialite. Available at Nordstrom stores or Nordstrom.com for $11.90 (originally $19.50!)

2. I love this Ella Moss braided tank in flush. Pair it with jeans for a casual look or white jeans for an ultra summery look. Find this Jordan tank at shopepic.com for $97.

3. These rocker chic sandals by Steve Madden in Fuchsia Patent add edge to any outfit. Get yours for May 15 at Steve Madden stores or on stevemadden.com for $79.95.
4. My favorite hot pink fashion has to be this Henley Tunic from Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent. I love the silhouette of this dress and the small white fish print. This dress is exclusively available at PinkMascara.com for $275.

So take the Hot Pink Pledge and don't forget to wear pink on May 15!
