The Grammys 2010

As a whole I was not that impressed with many of the dresses at this year's Grammy Awards, but there were a few diamonds in the rough. Without a doubt Beyonce looked fabulous in both her performance dress, a mini leather Versace, and her post performance dress, which was a metallic chain dress with plunging neckline by Giorgio Armani Prive.

My favorite look of the night went to Lea Michele. She looked amazing in this navy one shoulder mini by Romona Keveza and it wasn't even her first choice! Apparently she was all set to leave in a white gown, but realized at the last minute that it was completely see thru...um that would have been embarrassing!

And finally Rihanna glammed it up in a white evening gown by Elie Saab. Personally, I like when stars have fun with fashion at the Grammy's, but Rihanna was nominated (and won) so her long dress was appropriate.

Disappointments of the night include, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Katy Perry. Better luck next year ladies.

The LBD

The LBD (Little Black Dress) is an essential piece in every woman's wardrobe, and most of us already own at least one (if you do, yay for you!) The idea of the LBD is that it can be worn on a date, to work, out with friends, or to a party, all with simple changes in your accessories to make it appropriate. It is a go-to piece that never lets a woman down. Here are some choices all under $50!

White Hot or Cold

Labor day has come and gone, officially ending the summer season, and with this holiday comes the much debated question, "Is white acceptable after Labor Day?" For me it has always been a simple answer, Yes! White has no expiration date, instead white clothes depend on temperature. In the heat of spring and summer time, white is great in denim, light cottons, linen, any material that is thin and airy. As the temperature drops, white clothes should shift into thicker fabrics such as wool, silk or tweed. So throw out the old wives tale that white is unacceptable after Labor Day and wear white all winter long. Just change your fabrics and you will be chic and sharp in white. Below are some of my favorite white pieces for all year long.

From left to right:

• Prairie NY Charlie Stone-Yoke Dress, $232 – Love this dress for a date or cocktail event, try a black coat that comes a couple inches below the dress for added warmth.
• Nightcap Cherokee Dress, $171 – Love the black lace tights paired with this dress on the model.
• ChloĆ© Slim fit jeans, $96 (originally $480)
